April 29, 2020

Dear Skyview families,

Our last month of “school” has certainly been one for the record books!  We could never have thought that our school year would end in quarantine!  With the announcement from Governor Justice, that we will not finish the school year in our building, came many emotions!  While we understand this needed decision to keep everyone safe, we are sad to not share our normal routine of learning, activities, and end of year traditions.  We will remain filled with Rocket pride and do what is best for our school community!

The entire staff of Skyview misses our Rocket family and we look forward to the day we can get back to our regular school schedule.   Until then, we will continue to provide engaging activities and support to our students remotely to stay connected and work hard to continue to grow and learn!

We know that it is difficult to do school at home but we are here to support you and your family through this process daily.  Teachers and staff have been using chrome books, phone calls, Remind, email, porch drop-offs, and US Mail to provide quality learning opportunities that are relevant to their grade-level standards, easy, and fun!  We encourage you to reach out to teachers with any concerns or questions.  Together, we will face these new challenges and be ready for next year.

Monongalia County Schools is currently putting together plans for supporting students academically through the summer. We do not yet know what format this summer support will take but we will make it available as soon as possible.

When we return to school, we will work to review academic skills and focus our instruction on meeting the needs of our students just like we always have in the past.  Students will continue to learn and grow as they always have and we will make sure we address any challenges they may have from this time of remote learning.

We will be sharing our plans on collecting students’ personal belongings from the school very soon.  School Messenger calls will continue to update you on any important information.  Teachers will continue to reach out to students as we have a month of learning still to happen.  We hope you will continue to work with us as we move toward the end of this school year!

Stay safe and well!

Thank you,

Jennifer A. Cox
