Dear Black Bear Families: April 28, 2020
I am sure the last several weeks have found us all in unfamiliar places. Who would have thought when we began our school year last August, that it would end in such a way? In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Governor has decided that students will not be returning to the school buildings to complete the year, but rather, teachers and school personnel will continue to support their students remotely, from home, so that learning continues.
The Eastwood staff really misses all of our students, and we enthusiastically look forward to the day we can resume our regular school schedule. Until that day comes, we will certainly continue to provide engaging activities, guidance, and support to all of our Black Bears. We know “school-at-home” is not easy, but we are in this together and will continue to follow our mission of “Growing Healthy Kids in a Healthy World.” We encourage you to reach out to us, and we will help meet these new challenges together and be ready to begin our next school year. Thank you for your commitment.
When we return for the next school year, we will be ready to determine each child’s needs. That will undoubtedly include a broader academic review at all grade levels to help drive our plans for appropriate and effective instruction. We are proud of what you are doing!
In the near future, we will share plans for you to collect your students’ belongings from school. Until then, thank you over and over again for all you are doing. There is still much to do, and we hope you will continue to work with us to move toward the end of this school year. Stay Healthy!!
Always Proud to be a Black Bear,
DeAnn Hartshorn, Principal
