UPDATE:
August 4, 2016

Thanks for everyone who donated and to those who helped spread the word! As a school system were able to send a fully packed bus, a 22 foot long enclosed trailer, and a county boxed truck full of donations.

As time passes, different needs will arise, and we may be calling on you again. Please stay tuned for any future collection requests.

Thanks again!

Dear University High School Family and Friends,

To support the families who have been impacted by the devastating floods that occurred recently in areas of West Virginia, the West Virginia Board of Education (WVBE) has launched a School Supply Flood Relief Project.  We hope that the schools in the affected areas will be able to open as scheduled and that children will be able to gain a sense of “normalcy” and routine.  We are encouraging families, friends, and community members to support this project by donating much needed supplies.  We have included a list of suggested school supplies at the bottom of this letter.  If you would like to make a donation of money, information can be found on both the West Virginia Department of Education website under Flood Relief or on the Facebook page, WV School Supply Flood Relief Project.

University High will serve as a collection site for donated supplies.  Donations may be dropped off daily on July 20 -22nd and July 25th-26th from 7:00 AM until 4:00 PM. We will also collect donations on July 27th from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM.  We will “pack the bus” located in front of UHS with supplies to be delivered to Logan, WV in early August.  Final arrangements for delivery have not yet been made.

Thank you for supporting this project and the great state of WV.  If you have questions or would like to assist, please contact Katrina Boley at kboley@k12.wv.us or by calling the school at 1-304-291-9270.

Sincerely,

Shari Burgess, Principal

Katrina Boley, Assistant Principal

Pete Cheesebrough, Assistant Principal
